February Randoms

Been kind of busy so I haven't had much time for updating so I'm going to throw a hodge-podge your way.

The 2010 Olympics are underway in Vancouver. I'm been watching an unhealthy amount of olympics... more than I can ever remember before. Not sure if it's the fact that it's here or whether I'm just amped up because it's the first time I can watch it with one of my kids. Reagan and I have watched it together.

She has an interesting way of re-naming her favorite events:

Ski-Jumping - (Ski-Flying)
Figure Skating - (Figure Dancing)
Women's Hockey - (Girl Hockey)

It was also the first time I've EVER in my memory watched an opening ceremony from start to finish. I thought it was generally pretty good. My favorite parts were the flying "Peter Pan-like" dude flying over the prairies to Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now. I also thought K.D. Lang's performance was off the charts.

It's been an up and down olympics with high hopes for Canadian's on the podium falling short WAY too often.

There have also been the REALLY BAD PARTS... the death of the Georgian Luge Slider, The Weather ruining events, the protesters in Vancouver and the death of one of our athlete's mother's over the weekend. Joanie Rochette (Figure Skating) still plans to skate Tuesday night. She's the Silver Medalist from Torino I believe and I have a feeling with her skating for her mom she's going to be unbelievable.

I was pretty discouraged after our awful weekend performances but Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir winning gold in figure skating tonight has me back on the wagon. (I think I have a crush on Tessa... I'm damn near old enough to be her father but she's a doll.)

What else?

I made my return to the radio last week. Or should I say debut. I've been off the air since August 2007. During Grey Cup week... I met an Aussie in Calgary who ended up hooking me up with a buddy who works in a talk radio station in Adelaide http://www.fiveaa.com.au/

He was looking for someone to talk Canadian News once a week on his show. I debuted last week and we had a pretty good time. It's me and Jeff Burzacott, every Tuesday from 7:30-7:50am Sask time.

What else?

I don't buy movies. When I do... I usually find that I never watch them more than once. Around Christmas time I watched "District 9." My favorite movie of 2009. I want to buy it... I've now seen it 3 times. If you haven't seen it yet... DO IT! It's kind of a science fiction, but it's more of a political statement than Sci-Fi and it's an amazing show done with unknown South African actors on a low budget. Watch with an open mind and you'll be amazed.

What else?

Got this emailed to me tonight... Too Funny!
